I miss not having a genuine commodore monitor. My system runs on a Vizio monitor and that’s fair in display, but colors are kind of … excuse the term, but it fits… wonky.

WIth my A500!

my Amiga is crapping out and won’t load any of my disks without a failure. Any ideas? just started happening so I unplugged the system for now and shelved it. Wonder if interference from my nearby CRT monitors or the 1571 or my 128 and 64? even my kickstart disk is giving me that error . i figure it can’t be that all my disks suddenly stopped working. maybe the 1mb ram expansion is loose? not sure what it could be. Worst case I will bring it to the next WAUG meeting and have the gang there take a look and help me fix it if possible.

I would try in order:

  • Reseat of chips in the amiga (may want to clean the connectors as well?)
  • if expansion card is a suspect, try removing, cleaning the connectors on the motherboard and reseat
  • if possible, clean heads on disk drive

There’s not a lot of detail hear to assess what the failure might be, so hence, my list above. Could be ram, I/O control, or drive itself.

If you capture more detail, let me know.
I take it no H/W or S/W mods have occurred between the GOOD and BAD states?

Is this the same Amiga you just got back recently?

yeah for some reason it won’t load any of the disks except one, and a few i recently purchased and acquired. it does load barbarian incidentally. i thought it was because my disks case they were in was next to my wireless printer maybe some sort of corruption but i also have a bunch of mac disks in that case for my powerbook 1400 and they work fine… i get software failure trying to load literally every other disk! i am going to be on the WAUG call tonight hopefully the gang can help me troubleshoot. will keep ya posted.

Good luck.
