The unofficial update that became a full-scale overhaul

Version 8.1a is live. This isn’t a patch. It’s a renovation with the lights on and the soldering iron still warm.

      Includes a modified VICE build (ACIA fix for high baud rates) + scripts for BBS operation.

      Includes a VICE installer (includes ACIA fix) + scripts for BBS operation.
    • LTK Disk Images Only
      For systems that already have the modified VICE version running LTK.

  • SD2IEC Build
    For Commodore hardware with an SD2IEC drive. Includes a 4GB SD card image to burn using tools like Etcher.

    Contains the files necessary for the BBS. Ideal for sysops upgrading an existing system or building on existing hardware/media.

Changes incorporated since April release

April 2025

  • Correction to networking program errors; minor sysop manual corrections
  • Bug squashed in stand-alone editor (line delete function wasn’t working fully)
  • Bug found in BBS.XFER at line 6315 that caused FILE NOT FOUND

May 2025

  • BBS.MSGS held extra space due to how it was saved. Corrected.

27 July 2025

  • Added +bbs file to the D64 formatted “Traditional Build”
  • Cleaned up/corrected menus and help files
  • Minor code corrections (removed my specific BBS info; one minor change in BBS.OV3)
  • Updated user manual with minor corrections

  • Edited “Traditional Build” files where Linux filename translation caused “A” prefixes when moved to disk/images
  • Fixed sys.edit copier option “X” causing syntax error
  • Rebuilt SD2IEC distribution as a full SD card image made on real hardware (to avoid filename corruption)
