Introduction of my self

Hello folks my name is Thomas .

I stumbled on this forum circling back to an old hobby again. I generaly love electronics and all tecnical stuff , engines and robots and sience alike.

I resently bought a commodore c64 again transitional 1986 model c64 large pcb white vedge case
and started to build out my rig.
Sins then i manage to build icore64’s 1581 enhanced 2v drive and making more of them. i started with a SD2IEC 2button vesrion , got me a 1541ii and thats when i realised that im an old fart now “80’s kid” 1980 spot on to be exact so imagine my chock when i saw the 5.25 inch floppy media prices, almoast fell of the chair, Thats when i built the 1581’s PCBWAAAAAY style of course. now i have learned about the file strukture “PROS & CONS” sigh, and now i found COLOR64 8.1a in all it’s glory and “GIDEONS_Logic” got one more customer. So now im waiting for my 1541 Ultimate ii+L in matching case color, Now this is getting a bit crazy couse now “Thomas at icore64” has made the CMD HD4000 and now i have to build that too , as soon as he open’s up in the autum from vecation we will see if they start selling the “loose GAL’s chip with the licenced code” otherwise i have to buy the pcb kit with gals. So That’s me in a nutshell pretty much and ever sinns i saw this bbs color64 i joust knew what HAD to be done , so im hoping to be able to ad one more color64 bbs to the world in the future runing on a retro/modern hybrid system.

and i think im going to spent some time here

and i apologize for my sorely bad spelling etc.

Greatings to one and all.

Thomas “Chabo” .

Hey @Chabo - welcome to the fray and it sounds like you are a very busy individual indeed!
I did the 1581s from DIYChris - didn’t have a lot of luck with those; perhaps I should try to delve into that again. I have several 1581 cases and internal drives on hot standby to jump into that arena again.

Glad you are delving into Color 64 v8.1a - let me know when you start to tackle that as there are a few gotchas at least in the “pre-built” versions if you are pursuing those. Straight install from the D64 images though should be relatively and hopefully painless. Reach out to me if you have any issues / questions or bug-reporting on them!

Our population is still a little small on this website, but you have some great contacts & subject-matter experts already present.

Cheers!

Nice to meet you @Chabo
